THE THREE BEARS CREAMERY COTTAGE
September 2, 2004
This is Fred Ball for Zions Bank, speaking on business.
The Three Bears Creamery Cottage in Kanab is like stepping into a fairy tale. In fact, that's just the way the store's owner, Patty Wilcox, wanted it to feel. The store looks like a cottage, and it even has a fireplace and three wooden chairs for the Three Bears. The creamery has only been open a little more than one year, and already it's gaining a reputation for its old-fashioned cream sodas and hard ice cream sundaes.
The Three Bears Creamery Cottage offers delicious specialties like the "Little Red Riding Hood," a sundae made with fresh strawberries, whipping cream, choice of nuts, and of course, a cherry on top. If you want something a little larger, why not try the "Big Bad Wolf?" It has six scoops of ice cream and a choice of four toppings. With 20 different kinds of ice cream and numerous toppings, the hard part is deciding what flavor would taste the best with hot fudge and caramel topping.
Patty was originally going to sell just ice cream, but decided to include a fuller, year round menu. Savory soups are also offered (taco soup is the house special) along with fresh sandwiches made on homemade wheat bread. In "Little Red Hen" fashion, she grinds the wheat every morning. Now that's fresh! The Three Bears is a family run business. You'll meet the children, husband Robin and an occasional grandchild or two. It has a friendly atmosphere, where you can relax and enjoy.
Patty is quick to remind me that the store doesn't sell fast food, although the food is made to order fast. The Three Bears Creamery Cottage is already a chain! Patty's sister thought the parlor was such a good idea, she decided to open her own in Hamilton, Montana, where customers also enjoy lunches and dinners of homemade bread and soups, and treats like "Goldilocks Sundae."
For Zions Bank, I'm Fred Ball. I'm speaking on business.
